What makes LifeSolutions stand out?
  • Experience: We’ve been in the business of providing employer wellness and productivity strategies for more than 35 years.
  • Integrated delivery: LifeSolutions is part of the Workpartners health and productivity suite of services that also includes absence management, health management, workers’ compensation, data analytics and mobile health. Our services can be incorporated into any existing company program in these areas as part of the solution to health and productivity needs.
  • Cutting-edge resources: We are owned by the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, one of the nation’s leading academic medical facilities. As a result, we have unparalleled access to innovative resources, programs, and dedicated personnel.
  • Highly qualified providers: All of our providers are licensed masters- or PhD-level psychologists, social workers, and other behavioral health specialists, such as rehabilitation counselors. They must have a minimum of three years’ experience or specific training in Employee Assistance work.
  • Coverage for All Market Segments: LifeSolutions is proud to serve for-profit and non-profit customers with employee groups from under fifty employees to thousands of employees. Education, health care, manufacturing, municipal government, first responders, union members, technology, professional services and social service organizations comprise the mix of markets our customers represent.
  • Wide range of programs: In addition to our EAP, LifeSolutions offers a Student Assistance Program (SAP) for college students and those in schools of nursing. We serve union members and leaders through our Member Assistance Program (MAP). Physician services are provided through our Physician Assistance Services (PAS) and the Resident and Fellow Assistance Program (RFAP) which includes the First Job Assist for physicians looking for their first job as a physician. Our Resources for Life (RFL) program supports the Medicare population.
My employees already have workplace counseling benefits through their medical coverage. How will LifeSolutions benefit them?
  • Since LifeSolutions is workplace-based, our counselors' expertise is in evaluating and addressing how the employee’s issue is impacting his or her productivity at work. Providing strategies to be successful at work benefits the employee and the organization.
  • About 75 percent of employees and their household members who come to LifeSolutions do not need additional assistance, so they will not have a copayment.
  • Employees with serious issues, such as depression and substance abuse, don’t always find the best resources to meet their needs on their own. We get the employee to the right resource at the right time — confidentially and consistent with his or her insurance plan.
  • LifeSolutions does not keep a claims history or medical records.
How does LifeSolutions provide support to organizational leaders?
We provide 24/7 unlimited consultation for difficult employee situations and crisis management. When applicable, we also support managers with services like performance-based referrals. We offer on-site consultation for addressing organizational issues.
How does LifeSolutions respond to critical and traumatic workplace incidents?
LifeSolutions is available 24/7 to support an organization coping with the death of an employee, an act of workplace violence, an industrial accident, or a natural or manmade disaster.
  • We provide immediate and ongoing telephone support to the leadership managing the situation.
  • We provide on-site support for leaders, managers and employees when needed.
  • We get employees who need immediate service to the right resource.
  • We follow up after service completion to ensure current needs have been met and to highlight what to watch for over time. LifeSolutions remains available should further needs arise.
What types of training do you provide?
On-site and online training is available. Webinars are offered monthly on personal and work-related topics. Training focuses on increasing employees' interpersonal skills at work and in their personal lives.

Intensive courses are offered for managers and supervisors such as "Developing Engaged and Creative Employees: Coaching Skills for Leaders", "Resolving Conflict with Confidence", and "Transformative Management".

LifeSolutions' Civility Initiative is a culture change program for the entire organization and includes training for leaders and front-line managers as well as awareness building for employees. Consultation for leaders is included.

"Mindfulness for Stress Reduction" is a series of sessions for leaders and for employees.

Our first step is a consultation to ensure that training is the most effective strategy. It's important that we understand the problem and your goals. Sometimes the issue you want to address can be better resolved in another way.

LifeSolutions will be there to support success.
How can an integrated delivery system help my company?
LifeSolutions is one part of a suite of services provided by Workpartners which includes absence management, health management, workers’ compensation, data analytics, and mobile health.

Experts from these businesses work together and cross-refer to meet employee needs. For example, if one of your employees is planning to take a family leave, the leave management specialist can refer the employee to LifeSolutions to help cope with issues related to the leave. Or if a LifeSolutions client needs help controlling his weight, our counselor can refer the individual to a health coach. This kind of synergy maximizes the impact of our services, and helps boost your bottom line.

LifeSolutions services can also be incorporated into any existing company program in these areas as part of the solution to health and productivity needs.
Does LifeSolutions offer 24/7 access?
Our toll-free number is answered 24/7/365 by highly qualified and experienced professionals. Phone support, supervisory consultation, and emergency response are available at all times.
What is the scope of LifeSolutions’ provider network?
LifeSolutions serves more than 500 employer groups across the country and globally.
How long does it take to get an appointment with a LifeSolutions counselor?
LifeSolutions’ time standards for scheduling new appointments depend on the level of need:
  • Emergency: Callers get an immediate response. The EAP staff coordinates scheduling the appointment or other needed service for a same-day appointment; often while the employee remains on the phone.
  • Urgent: Appointments are arranged within 24 to 48 hours. These include non-emergency situations with some risk like fitness-for-duty cases or clearly upset callers.
  • Routine: Routine appointments are offered within four to six business days, unless the client desires a specific clinician or chooses a date or time at their convenience, which may be beyond the first available date offered by LifeSolutions.
What types of services/programs are available online?
LifeSolutions’ secure website provides a wealth of resources. LifeSolutions also offers a useful interactive WorkLife portal.
What is a Member Assistance Program?
LifeSolutions offers a specialized Member Assistance Program (MAP) for union membership and leaders, providing tools, resources, and support to manage the highs and lows of life. We provide support for leaders to help them deal with the personal challenges that affect their members – alcohol and drug use, financial and/or legal problems, relationship issues – all of which impact a member’s ability to succeed at work and home.
